Roderick Hero, at your service. Please, call me R. Hero. Everyone does. I wish to   address myself to fledgling Heroes and all-round good guys everywhere. A crisis is afoot, affording me an ideal opportunity to share a few of the finer points of heroic endeavor with you. Do pay attention.

Volcanic activity has trapped miners in mineshafts in Mount Leone. І shall use  equipment (some think it rather nifty) of my own invention to help miners no mere  mortal can reach. It would give me great pleasure to have your help.

H.E.R.O. first appeared on the Atari 2600 way back in 1984. Written by John Van Ryzin it was considered one of the best games on that machine. The game was converted to most home computers, including the Sinclair Spectrum, that version being the inspiration for this remake.

Tip: Take time to familiarise yourself with the prop-pack controls before embarking on your adventure. The physics takes some mastering!

The best H.E.R.O. remake by far. Very well made! Love the feel of the controls. They are close to perfection. The title screen and the hiscore screen is just LOVELY, with nice and fitting music.

The sound effects could be improved, though. The helicopter sound is especially bad, and that's what you hear the most during gameplay. :)

But all in all, this is fantastic work. Very happy to pay for this!

does not launch  - windows 11.  tried running as administrator and also other other compatibility settings.

Extremely good remake, with a couple of improvements, if I may. The sound of the helicopter is jarring. As are the explosions. Too weak. Especially at the end of the level when your remaining sticks are detonating. they just pop away. The 2600 sounds (or the MSX version!) are scintillating.

Also, in every version, you can stand closer to the explosions without being self-destructed.

Other than these minor (but hugely important) gripes, this is an excellent conversion. The new graphics suit the game very well indeed.

Eventually HERO is all about the agility and the playability of the main character, and you have got that down to a dot.

Very well made and a 9/10...
Happily Purchased.

love your games - would love to see a remake of Saboteur and/or Dan Dare.  cheers

I’ve only played the Atari 2600 version from the 80’s which is an excellent game, your version is absolutely outstanding! You’ve kept all the fun and addictiveness but improved things.. I really love this game!! Great Job !!! 😀

I agree. Playability is top notch. Vital in this game.
